Swami Shivatmananda, formerly Brahmachari Girish Chaitanya, was initiated into sannyasa in Mumbai, India on the auspicious day of Mahashivaratri in February 2015. He is the resident acharya of Chinmaya Mission Austin.
Before joining the Vedanta brahmachari course at 'Sandeepany Sadhanalaya,' he lived and worked in Northern California for over 18 years. He completed the intensive Vedanta course under the tutelage of Swami Ishwarananda. In 2004, upon completion of the course, he was posted as the resident acharya of CM Los Angeles for four years and then assigned to the CM Austin center.
Swamiji enjoys cooking, laughing, and solitude. He is fluent in Gujarati, Hindi, and English.
