With Pujya Guruji Swami Tejomayanandaís blessings, Acharya Swapna Nayar completed Chinmaya Missionís two-year residential Vedanta Course in 2013 under the tutelage of resident acharyas, Swami Advayananda and Swami Sharadananda, at the Sandeepany Sadhanalaya ashram in Powai, Mumbai.
Swapnaji was born into a zamindar family in West Bengal, India. Raised in a religious family with their own temples and shrines, she has had an inclination towards spirituality since childhood. She graduated with a Liberal Arts degree from the University of Calcutta, and became a housewife and mother thereafter.
She began attending spiritual discourses with her husband at the Ramakrishna Mission in 1976. When she attended Pujya Gurudevís jnana yajna for the first time in 1989, she felt attracted to Chinmaya Mission and began her Vedantic studies at CM Kolkata in 1995. Her pursuit of knowledge continued for the next 16 years under the guidance of various CM acharyas, in particular, Swami Advaitananda, resident acharya of CM Kolkata 2000-2007, whose satsangs heightened her spiritual quest to know the Self. She soon became a Chinmaya Study Group sevak and conducted multiple classes, also offering devotional singing at CM festivals and celebrations.
She and her husband joined the Missionís two-year Vedanta Course in 2011. On its completion, they served at CM Kolkata for some time and then were posted by Pujya Guruji as the resident acharyas of CM Chicagoís Yamunotri ashram.
