With Pujya Guruji Swami Tejomayanandaís blessings, Acharya J.K. Nayar completed Chinmaya Missionís two-year residential Vedanta Course in 2013 under the tutelage of resident acharyas, Swami Advayananda and Swami Sharadananda, at the Sandeepany Sadhanalaya ashram in Powai, Mumbai.
Jitendraji was born in Ludhiana and migrated with his parents to settle in Kolkata. He acquired degrees in Law and Chartered Accounting, and a Masterís degree in Business. He practiced as an independent chartered accountant for over 40 years in India.
His spiritual pursuit started in 1976 when he began attending spiritual discourses at the Ramakrishna Mission and Bharat Sevashram Sangha in Kolkata. In 1988, when Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda conducted a jnana yajna opposite his residence, he was mesmerized by the discourses and longed to pursue further studies in Vedanta.
He became actively associated with CM Kolkata in 1995 and served as the President and Vice President of Chinmaya Missionís Vanprastha Sansthan, Kolkata chapter. He also served as the Secretary of CM Kolkata for more than a decade. Inspired by CM Kolkataís resident acharya, Swami Advaitananda, he began conducting multiple classes as a Chinmaya Study Group sevak in different parts of the city.
Jitendraji and his wife eventually joined the Missionís two-year Vedanta Course in 2011. On its completion, they served at CM Kolkata for some time and then were posted by Pujya Guruji as the resident acharyas of CM Chicagoís Yamunotri ashram.
